Day 4: The Danger of Constant Noise
Reading: Psalm 46:10 and 1 Kings 19:11-12
Devotional: God spoke to Elijah not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, but in a gentle whisper. That image is profoundly relevant today. We live in a culture of relentless noise, and most of us have eliminated nearly every quiet moment from our daily lives. We reach for our phones in line, at red lights, during commercials, and even at the dinner table. Then we wonder why we struggle to hear from God. He has not gone silent. We have simply filled every available moment with noise that drowns out his voice. Stillness is not wasted time. It is sacred space.
Reflection Question: When was the last time you sat in complete silence before God, without an agenda or a timer?
Practical Application: Set aside ten minutes today with no phone, no music, and no background noise. Simply be still. Pray, listen, and let your mind slow down in his presence.
