Day 2: Covenant Over Contract

Devotional: God established marriage from the beginning as a sacred covenant, not a conditional contract. A contract says, "I'll love you as long as you meet my needs." A covenant declares, "I choose you even when it costs me." God witnessed your marriage vows and takes them seriously—so seriously that mistreating your spouse can hinder your prayers. This isn't meant to discourage but to reveal how deeply God values covenant faithfulness. Marriage reflects Christ's relationship with the church: permanent, sacrificial, and transformative. When feelings fade or circumstances challenge you, remember that covenant love isn't based on emotions but on a sacred promise before God. Today, ask yourself: Am I treating my marriage as a contract to be renegotiated or a covenant to be honored?
