The Art of Holding On & Letting Go Week 2
In John 15, Jesus makes a profound declaration: 'I am the TRUE vine.' That single word—true—changes everything. It implies that in this world, there are false vines all around us, promising to provide what only Christ can deliver. This message takes us deep into the imagery of a vineyard, where Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. The vine doesn't produce fruit; it produces branches that produce fruit. But here's the catch: those branches must remain connected to receive the life-giving nourishment that flows from the source. We're challenged to examine our lives honestly and ask: What are we really connected to? Have we grabbed hold of success, career, relationships, or even religious activity as our source of life? These false vines may look appealing and even produce temporary results, but they lead to spiritual withering from the inside out. The world constantly calls us toward independence—to do it on our own, to be self-sufficient. Yet Christ's invitation is radically different: abide in Me, depend on Me, and you will produce fruit effortlessly. When we're truly connected to the true vine through daily time in His Word, living in obedience, and embracing His pruning work, we produce fruit that glorifies God, blesses others, and points back to Christ. This isn't about religious checklists; it's about a living, breathing relationship with the One who created us and knows exactly what we need to thrive.
